This was their first major competition of the year and in Gavins case his first competition since the INTERNATIONAL TAEKWONDO FEDERATION WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS held in Birmingham in 2007. The next few months will be full of hard work and effort on the brothers part as both have qualified for the INTERNATIONAL TAEKWONDO FEDERATION WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS to be held in SOUTH KOREA in July. Their agenda prior to going to SOUTH KOREA this year will see them taking part in weekly squad training sessions as well as their normal Taekwondo classes, and in order to gain maximum "ring" experience will see them competing at the UTF-Scotland Scottish Championships Feb 27th at Grangemouth, their own Scottish Imperial Championships 28th March at Dalkeith Campus, the Imperial Team Challenge 22nd May at Bristol & the Cornish Imperial Championships 6th June in Truro, Cornwall. A busy time ahead for the martial arts brothers but one that got off to a positive start at the weekend with Gavin(19yrs) taking a Silver medal in the Sparring category & Brad(14yrs) winning Gold for his Patterns and Sparring. As is now the norm for IMPERIAL competitions over 200 competitors attended the Welsh Championships from all over the UK with a good representation from Europe. The competitiors are of a high quality and the brothers will often face past & present European or World champions, the perfect stage to build your confidence for major competitions and a great way to make friends from around the globe, a real martial arts family. Lookout for regular updates on the trail to SOUTH KOREA. Until the next time. TAEKWON |
